Driving to Your Holiday Destination?  Here are some suggestions to help you on your journey

  1. Pre-trip Vehicle Check List
  • Fuel
  • Tyre condition, tread & pressures (including the spare), don’t always rely on automatic sensors if you have them. Tread depth & tyre requirements differ in the winter.
  • Oil levels (engine, transmission, power steering)
  • Washer fluid
  • Coolant
  • Owner’s manual
  • Basic tools, jack & wrench for changing a wheel
  • Snow brush & lock de-icer in the winter
  • Breakdown recovery coverage phone numbers
  • Ensure all snow is cleared from vehicle before setting off (no we didn’t drive off with our truck looking like this)

  1. Travel Kit
  • Jumper cables
  • Bottled water, energy bars, travel blankets etc
  • Medications for anyone who needs them
  1. On the road
  • Ensure you leave plenty of time for your trip & allow for possible delays, check local travel advisories drivebc.com https://511.alberta.ca
  • If you feel tired, share the driving or stop for a rest.
  • Check you have your entertainment sorted before leaving, don’t try connecting that new Bluetooth device while on the move.
  • We have found informative and or funny podcasts are good to intersperse with music to help keep you alert. Our favourite is No Such Thing As A Fish
